Our veterinarians bring extensive knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of surgical procedures including spays, neuters, mass removals, lacerations, abscess repairs, and cystotomies. We perform a wide range of ophthalmic, orthopedic, dental, exploratory, foreign body removal surgeries, and more.
Our doctors will conduct an evaluation to determine if surgery is the best option for your pet’s condition. If surgery is deemed necessary, you can rest assured that our experienced veterinarians and staff will take the utmost care of your pet and treat it as our own. Since every pet is unique, we complete an assessment prior to surgery so that we can screen for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic. We recommend that all patients be screened prior to anesthesia by means of laboratory tests to evaluate the liver, kidneys, blood protein and blood glucose.
We understand that anesthesia is scary. It’s very common for people to be concerned, especially when their older pet needs a procedure. To ensure your pet’s safety, we will use the information from our evaluations and take into consideration your pet’s species, breed, age, and health to create an anesthetic protocol best suited to your pet.
Once the surgery is complete, your pet will be brought out of anesthesia and our staff will continue to monitor vital signs and pain levels. We will keep your pet on site where our veterinarians can supervise the recovery until your pet is well enough to go home with you.
At Northshore Animal Hospital, we truly believe that the combination of our experience, advanced surgical care, patient monitoring of vital signs and pain levels throughout all stages of surgery and recovery offer your pet the best chance for surgical success.
